Apatani Pottery making

 Dekiñ pwchañ

Detailed view of the texture of a vintage earthen pot inherited by the Apatani family.

Previously, the Apatani people were skilled artisans in pottery making, which has been lost over time. This loss is significant to the cultural heritage of the community. Presently, we rely entirely on factory-produced utensils available in the market.

Many other Northeastern communities have continued the pottery-making craft, and their products are in high demand. It is regrettable that this art form could not have been preserved or revived.
